What is KFWiki?#
KFWiki is a native wiki reader for iPhone and iPad. The app provides fast read-only access to MediaWiki-based wikis — including Wikipedia and your own wiki.
Is KFWiki free?#
Yes, KFWiki is free on the App Store. There are no in-app purchases and no advertisements.
Can I edit wiki articles with KFWiki?#
No, KFWiki is a pure wiki reader. The app provides fast, read-only access to wiki content. Editing articles is not supported.
Which wikis are supported?#
KFWiki works with any wiki based on MediaWiki. This includes:
- Wikipedia (all languages)
- Self-hosted MediaWiki installations
- Other public wikis (e.g., Fandom, Wikimedia Commons)
Can I use multiple wikis at the same time?#
Yes! You can configure any number of wiki servers in the app and switch between them. Each server has its own favorites, history, and search results.
Do I need an account?#
No, public wikis like Wikipedia don’t require an account. For private, password-protected wikis, you can configure HTTP Basic Auth or MediaWiki login credentials.
Which iOS version is required?#
KFWiki requires at least iOS 17.0 and runs on iPhone and iPad.
Is my data shared with third parties?#
No. KFWiki communicates exclusively with the wiki servers you configure yourself. No data is sent to the developer, analytics services, or any third parties. For more details, see App Privacy.
Are cookies or trackers used?#
No — neither the app nor this website use cookies, trackers, or analytics services.
What is the browsing history?#
Every article you open in KFWiki is automatically saved to the local browsing history. This lets you quickly find recently read articles. History is stored only on your device and can be deleted at any time.
What are favorites?#
Favorites let you bookmark important articles for later access. They are displayed grouped by server and stored locally on your device.
What does the detail sheet show?#
The detail sheet shows all information about a wiki page at a glance:
- Page title and thumbnail
- Server name and URL
- Text preview
- Revision history (last 20 revisions)
Does KFWiki work offline?#
No, KFWiki requires an internet connection to fetch articles from wiki servers. However, favorites and history are visible even without a connection.
How do I remove a server?#
Go to the Servers tab, swipe the server to the left, and tap Delete. Alternatively, you can edit the server in settings.
What languages is the app available in?#
KFWiki is available in German and English. The app language follows your device’s system language.
